Nocturnal Halloween Garden — A Moody, Jewel-Tone Halloween Fabric Collection

Spoonflower recently ran a design challenge called Opulent Halloween — an invitation to put down the traditional orange and black and go rich, moody, and a little bit glamorous instead. I couldn't resist. I wanted something that read as Halloween but didn't clock out on November 1st. Something a witchy-aesthetic lover would still want around in February.

So I started with moths. There's something quietly magical about a creature that only shows itself after dark — pulled in by candlelight and moonlight instead of the sun. Once I followed that nocturnal instinct, the rest of the garden grew in around it: moons in every phase, scattered stars, spiderwebs catching the light, mushrooms pushing up through the shadows. My hero print, the moth & mushroom damask in gold and dark wine, was my entry for the challenge — and it became the anchor for an entire collection.

Directional Dragonflies Fabric: Gold-lined dragonflies, wings filled in dark wine, dark forest green, dark teal, or dark raspberry purple (plus the all-black colorway), all on a black ground.

Halloween Botanical Ditsy Fabric: A scattered ditsy of bats, moons, stars, mushrooms, dandelion fluffs (not broomsticks — promise), dragonflies, and flowers, all in gold on a solid ground. Here the background does the color work instead of the linework, so pick your ground: black, dark wine, dark forest green, dark teal, or dark raspberry purple.
