A Candy Cane for Every Kind of Christmas
Every Christmas I wander down the ornament aisles — the ones sorted by color and theme. The bright pastel candy one catches me first, all sugar confectionery and dreamy. Then the aisle that's pink, pink, pink. Followed by the modern takes. And finally, the classic red and green. That's where Candy Cane Lane started. Inspired by variety and anchored by those candy-cane stripes. Every hero and the main coordinate prints come in the same six colorways so you can create your project whichever way your Christmas leans. Bright pastel for a sweetcore tree. Candy Cane & Candies Damask Christmas Fabric: I wanted to build a collection around candy canes and stripes — but a candy cane on its own is just a tossed print or a simple repeat. So I tied two of them together with a bow and built a damask around them with a lollipop, peppermint swirls, gumdrops, & tiny snowflakes. The bow took a few tries. It started as a big, fancy ribbon, but once the print was repeating it swallowed the background, so I doodled a simple string bow instead — and the little peppermint perched on top was my teenager's idea. It comes in all six colorways; I keep coming back to the bright pastel, since that's where this whole thing began, though my teen swears by the red and pink one.
Tossed Candy Canes & Snowflakes Christmas Fabric: The print you might reach for the most — cheerful hand-drawn candy canes in three different stripe patterns, tossed so they work any direction. The snowflakes scattered between them weren't in the first version. But the yellow from the bow in the pastel hero needed a place in the pastel print, and it wasn’t as a candy cane, so I added some snowflakes instead. In every other colorway they’re cream. Like a scatter of sugar. Its colorways stretch beyond the shared six — three two-color candy canes, a single candy color plus cream on a colored ground. The candy pink and cream on mint green is delicious if you're leaning pastel. From the core six, I'm a sucker for the red and green on dark Christmas green. Nine colorways in all.
Candy Cane Lane Christmas Text Fabric: I'm always drawn to the text prints, and I love playing with fonts. This one repeats the words “candy cane lane” in a merry typewriter font. The little quirk I love is subtle: the lines sit just slightly uneven, which gives the whole thing a little hop, like a sugar plum fairy skipping down a candy landscape. It comes in five single colors on cream: bright red, dark candy pink, and three greens — mint green, bright Christmas green, and dark Christmas green.
Peppermint Swirls & Snowflakes Christmas Fabric: Confession time — I'm not really a peppermint fan. But I can't resist the swirl — that spinning contrast is so delightful. Hand-drawn peppermint swirl candies sit in a tidy brick layout, with the same little sugar snowflakes scattered throughout. Six colorways.
Hand-Drawn Gumdrops Christmas Fabric: I'll admit I don't reach for gumdrops at the candy dish either, but they're great for decorating a gingerbread house, and they scatter into the sweetest little blender. I can see that bright pastel version making its way into a number of non-holiday projects. Six colorways.
Diagonal Candy-Cane Stripes Christmas Fabric: I love a candy-cane stripe at Christmas — it just instantly feels festive & fun. This version features one thick line alternating with two thin ones, like the rhythm of a real candy cane. I'll be honest: I don't decorate with stripes so much as wrap presents with them. Homemade fabric gift sacks in stripes under the tree, tied with twill ribbon — that feels like Christmas to me.
It carries the widest range in the collection, too — eighteen colorways. Six match the hero and coordinates; five more pull the cream up out of the stripe to become the ground; and the rest are simple one- and two-color stripes on cream, in every hue the collection uses, from bright red to candy purple.
